From Vegas Open Network Wiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

VONet will host community events, workshops, and info sessions to help people connect, learn how the network works, and build skills around internet use and safety.

What to Expect

We're planning a variety of events and workshops designed for all experience levels. These may include:

Technical and Network-Focused

  • Node setup demonstrations
  • Rooftop install days
  • Mesh networking 101
  • Tool walkthroughs and equipment training
  • Volunteer coordination meetups
  • Hands-on sessions for building and expanding the network

Digital Literacy and Community Education

  • Internet safety workshops for parents and families
  • "How to use the internet" basics for new users
  • Avoiding scams, protecting your privacy, and recognizing misinformation
  • Safe browsing for kids and managing screen time
  • Community roundtables about online access and needs

We want to make the network useful and accessible—not just technically strong, but also something people feel confident using.
