Code of Conduct
From Vegas Open Network Wiki
Vegas Open Network (VONet) is a community-owned project. We rely on trust, respect, and collaboration to build and maintain our network. This Code of Conduct applies to all members, volunteers, and participants in any VONet space—online, in person, or on the network.
Our Principles
- Treat everyone with respect. No harassment, discrimination, or personal attacks.
- Act with honesty and transparency.
- Work for the benefit of the community, not personal gain.
- Protect the privacy and safety of others.
- Share knowledge openly and help others learn.
Respect and Inclusion
We welcome everyone, regardless of background, identity, or skill level. We will not tolerate:
- Harassment or intimidation.
- Hate speech or discriminatory language.
- Unwanted contact or attention.
Collaboration
- Listen to others and value different perspectives.
- Share credit for shared work.
- Ask for help when needed and offer help when you can.
- Resolve disagreements respectfully and in good faith.
Privacy and Safety
- Treat all network traffic as public unless encrypted.
- Do not collect or share private information without consent.
- Follow safety rules during any equipment installation or maintenance.
Responsible Use
- Follow the Network Commons License.
- Do not use the network for illegal activity.
- Avoid actions that disrupt or harm the network or its users.
Conflict Resolution
- Try to resolve issues directly and respectfully with those involved.
- If that fails, contact the advisory council or Director.
- The council may take action, including removing participants who violate this Code.
